Balsa Wood

Balsa Wood

Ecological, Sustainable, Regenerable & Natural

Cultivated, Grown and Processed in Ecuador.

Balsa also known as ‘Ochroma Lagopus’ is the lightest wood in the World.

Balsa is peculiar to Ecuador.

It is the only 100% natural, sustainable and ecological composite material in the World.

Trees that are cut are 4 to 5 years old, those remaining on the cultivation reproduce with their seeds meaning that the balsa is a naturally renewable and self-regenerable resource.

However to answer the growing industrial demand of Balsa, it is also planted by sowing and seedlings.

There is no chemical treatment in balsa processing but only kiln-dried process to eliminate any phytosanitary risk.

We work hands in hands with local farmers and our balsa business also contributes in helping them to improve their family living conditions.
